To promote strong and vibrant female leadership within County Wexford, Wexford County Enterprise Board and Wexford County Council are holding a joint initiative through the County Development Board. The event will promote the equality agenda and highlight in particular the qualities and competences that women bring to leadership positions and their relevance to Enterprise, Local Government and Communities. The guest speaker, Julie O’Neill, will outline the challenges for leaders arising from the changing world of organisations and the changing global economic context. She will give her own personal take on leadership and on what is required to be a leader based on her experience of working with senior management.

Julie O’Neill – Profile Julie O’Neill is a native of Wexford town who recently retired from the position of Secretary General of the Department of Transport which she held from June 2002. She has served in 8 Government Departments including as Secretary General in the Department of Marine and Natural Resources, Head of the Office of the Tánaiste and Assistant Secretary in the Department of Tourism Sport and Recreation. Earlier in her career, Ms. O’Neill worked in the Department of Social Welfare, Finance, the Public Service and the Office of the Revenue Commissioners. Educated at Loreto College, Wexford she holds a B.Comm from UCD and an MSc in Policy Analysis. Julie is now working as a freelance consultant and has in recent months been commissioned to develop a strategy to position Wexford for the upturn in the economy. She is also a board member of the Institute of Public Administration and the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
